Claire Cassidy

Musical Theatre Lecturer

Claire Cassidy trained at Laine Theatre Arts and has enjoyed an extensive career as a performer, choreographer, creative director, vocal coach and musical theatre educator.

Her West End theatre credits include The Sound of Music (Wimbledon Theatre and Sadler's Wells), Les Misérables (Palace Theatre), Oliver! (London Palladium) and Mamma Mia! (Prince of Wales Theatre and International Tour).

Claire's television and film credits include Laughter of God (UK and USA), Little Miss Playdays, Children of the New Forest (BBC), Martha Cratchit in A Christmas Carol starring Patrick Stewart, Bombardier idents with Rik Mayall for Dave, and the adult ensemble in Matilda (Netflix).

In 2026, Claire was honoured with the Best Choreography Award at the UK Pantomime Awards for her work on Sleeping Beauty at Harlow Playhouse.

Her choreography and creative direction credits span both the UK and internationally. Claire worked as Executive Production Assistant to Jean Ann Ryan and as Supervising Choreographer and Vocal Coach for Jean Ann Ryan Productions in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her international credits include The Best of Musical Starnights (2011–2015), Lady Anna: All at Sea at Park Theatre, London and on National Tour, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at Harlow Playhouse, UK tours of The Little Mermaid and Rapunzel Rocks, Live From Las Vegas for the Hilton Foundation Charity Event at Hilton Park Lane and The Brewery, and the UK National Tour of Emma.

Claire has been Resident Choreographer and Associate Director at Harlow Playhouse for 14 years, creating productions including Dick Whittington, Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Jack and the Beanstalk, Treasure Island, Robin Hood and Sleeping Beauty, with this year's production of Snow White continuing her long-standing association with the venue.

Her creative direction and choreography work also includes Rewind, a 1970s-themed production for Performers College at the Towngate Theatre; A Whole New World of Alan Menken for MOVE IT 2023; L'Amour, the third-year graduation show at Barking Theatre for Performers College; and Rise at Towngate Theatre, Basildon.

Alongside her professional theatre career, Claire is a Musical Theatre Tutor for the BA and MA courses at Performers College, Essex. She has also worked as Casting Associate and Children's Administrator to Debbie O'Brien Casting, as well as Freelance Casting and Children's Administrator to Harry Blumenau Casting, whose West End credits include Annie, The Choir of Man, Dirty Dancing, Kinky Boots, The King and I, The Bodyguard and The Snowman.

Claire has been the Children's Répétiteur for Matilda (RSC) in the West End and on the UK Tour since 2015, where she auditions, trains and rehearses the children who perform in the production.
