Dr. Adam Wilson
Acting Lecturer
Adam Wilson is a higher education lecturer, actor, director and producer specialising in acting for screen, performer training and contemporary performance practice. He trained at the Guildford School of Acting, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre, before completing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Actor Training and Coaching, with Distinction, at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Adam recently completed a Master of Education (MEd), also with Distinction, at Wrexham University, advancing his practice in higher education pedagogy, curriculum design and contemporary performer training.
As a performer, Adam has worked extensively across theatre, television and film. His stage career includes productions in the West End alongside new writing and international theatre projects. His screen work includes productions for ITV, Netflix, Sky, Disney, Tricycle, Marv Studios and The National Lottery.
Alongside his performance career, Adam has directed and produced work throughout the UK and internationally. His directing portfolio spans contemporary fringe productions, musical theatre, short films, digital media, commercial advertising and online series. He has directed Shakespeare for over a decade with Raise Your Voice, staging eleven seasons of productions at Cornwall's renowned Minack Theatre, celebrated internationally for its spectacular open air setting.
For more than ten years, Adam has trained performers across higher education institutions in the UK and internationally, including ArtsEd, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, The Institute for Contemporary Theatre, The Dang Collective, Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (UAE) and Performers College, where he currently lectures across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. His teaching spans acting for screen, directing, performance practice, creative business practice and curriculum development.
Adam's research and professional practice investigate the relationship between contemporary performance practice, emerging technologies and higher education pedagogy. His work explores how innovations across recorded media, virtual production, motion capture, artificial intelligence and digital performance can enhance actor training while maintaining rigorous, ethical and human centred artistic practice. Central to his teaching is the development of transferable professional skills including collaboration, communication, critical thinking, business acumen and digital fluency, preparing graduates for sustainable careers across an increasingly interdisciplinary creative industries landscape. His work is driven by a commitment to developing adaptable, reflective and industry ready artists who can confidently navigate the rapidly evolving future of performance.
