Dan De Cruz

Dan gained a BMus (Hons) from the University of Surrey before training on the postgraduate course at Guildford School of Acting.

Dan recently worked at the RSC as MD for Rupert Goold's Hamlet, The Two Gentlemen of Verona and The School for Scandal, and on the music team for The BFG, Edward II and The Merry Wives of Windsor. He was MD for BLAKE in Concert and Musical Supervisor on CAKE: The Marie Antoinette Playlist at the Other Palace. He has also recently been Associate Musical Supervisor for La Bamba! A Musical, working alongside Alfonso Casado Trigo. In addition, he was part of the music team for Bat Out of Hell, Mrs Doubtfire, Into the Woods and Operation Mincemeat, which won the Olivier Award for Best Musical and has recently transferred to Broadway.

Dan has worked extensively around the UK as a Musical Director. Over the last two years, he was MD for the NWT pantomimes Sleeping Beauty and Dick Whittington and His Cat (nominated for Best Panto and Best Contribution to Music). He was MD on the UK No.1 Tour of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical (nominated for Best Musical Supervision/Musical Direction in WhatsOnStage), and MD and Arranger on the charity single 'It Means Beautiful' by SAME Voices (nominated for an Asian Creative Media Award). His other MD credits include Just So and Kiss Me, Kate at the Watermill Theatre, Our Blue Heaven at the New Wolsey Theatre, and Return to the Forbidden Planet at the Devonshire Park Theatre. He was also MD and Arranger on Justin Fletcher's new show, Justin's Band.

Dan was also involved in the West End Unplugged sessions, performing acoustic sets of West End numbers with artists such as Alice Fearn, Sandra Marvin, Tim Howar, Aisha Jawando, David Bedella, Cedric Neal, Ben Goddard and Hannah Waddingham.

Other work includes the UK No.1 tour of the hit musical Jackie – The Musical, and Assistant Musical Director for the critically acclaimed production of Made in Dagenham at the Queen's Theatre and New Wolsey Theatre. He was MD and Arranger for Beauty and the Beast and Red Riding Hood at the City Varieties, Leeds, and for Aladdin at the Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, which was voted one of the Top Ten Shows of 2015 in London Theatre 1.

Dan's extensive musical direction credits also include Seussical the Musical, Chicago, The Wedding Singer, On the Streets and Little Shop of Horrors. He has worked on The Dracula Spectacular, Fame, Back to the 80's, The Pirates of Penzance and Annie. His credits further include Guys and Dolls, The Wizard of Oz, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and Oliver!, as well as The Mikado, A Christmas Carol, Captain Noah, The Evacuees and Sago the Clown.

Dan has also appeared on stage in numerous shows. His performance credits include Sinbad, Made in Dagenham, Sweet Charity, Beauty and the Beast and Dick Whittington at various venues. He performed in Mods and Rox (New Wolsey), Lemon – The Musical (Arts Theatre) and The Man Who Stole the Circus (Isis Theatre). He also appeared in Run for Your Wife and They're Playing Our Song (Queen's Theatre), Cinderella and Aladdin (City Varieties), and Much Ado About Nothing and Romeo and Juliet (Stafford Castle). Further credits include Buddy vs the Killer (Raffles, Singapore), Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood (Theatre Clwyd), My Fair Lady and West Side Story (Aberystwyth Arts Centre), Dawlish Road (Soho Theatre), The Far Pavilions and Time's Up (Shaftesbury Theatre), and Fame (Palladium).
