Katie Lawrance

ISTD Diploma in Dance Education Tutor

Katie Lawrance BA (Hons) is a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, with 30 years of experience in the dance education sector. She teaches and enters students for ISTD exams, both in college settings and in private dance schools.

After gaining a BA (Hons) in German at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Katie retrained as a dance teacher at The Dance College, Royston, gaining her Certificates in Dance Education in Imperial Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre and National. She was principal of her own dance school in Bedfordshire for many years, alongside freelance work teaching ISTD Tap and Modern at schools and colleges across the country.

Katie has taught a wide variety of age groups and genres, and holds Fellowship status in Tap Dance. In recent years, she has specialised in providing tuition to performing arts students at vocational institutions across the country. She is an established, highly experienced and successful approved tutor for the Diploma in Dance Education, specialising in the contextual studies units.

Katie is passionate about both dance and education, and endeavours to inspire new dance teachers to develop their zest for learning and teaching, both through the DDE qualification and into their careers beyond.
