Mary Mannion
Contemporary dance and spine lecturer
Mary graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2011 with a BPA in Contemporary Dance Performance, majoring in movement studies. She then joined the postgraduate touring company Verve on a full scholarship.
Mary has performed in a wide range of contemporary dance theatre works by choreographers including Ben Wright, Charles Linehan, Mara Vivas, Hofesh Shechter, Becky Namgauds, James Cousins, Dan Lourenço, James Wilton, Luke Brown and Lo-Guidice Dance, among others.
After completing a creative writing course at Central Saint Martins, Mary has written dance theatre works for the stage programmed by Impermanence Dance and Bristol Old Vic.
An experienced somatic practitioner, Mary has taught extensively and brings a holistic approach to teaching. She creates learning environments that cultivate curiosity, embodied awareness and critical reflection alongside technical development, supporting students in locating their own distinctive artistic voice.
