Sarah Mahony
Vocal Lecturer
Sarah trained at the Birmingham School of Acting, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Acting/Musical Theatre. She went on to gain a distinction in her Master's degree in Voice Pedagogy at The Voice Study Centre, covering all aspects of the singing voice and specialising in coaching singers to manage performance anxiety. She is a qualified Vocal Health First Aider.
Having worked as an actor, vocalist, saxophonist and pianist, Sarah spent a number of years as an actor-musician in the resident company at the Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch. Her productions there included Steel Magnolias, Roll Over Beethoven, Hot Stuff, Boeing Boeing, Lend Me a Tenor, Treasure Island, As You Like It, Run for Your Wife and They're Playing Our Song.
Her other theatre credits include A Christmas Carol (Blackpool Opera House), Buddy (UK Tour), Blaze – The Musical (Bridewell Theatre, London), The Mill on the Floss musical workshop (Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham), The Merchant of Venice (Salisbury Playhouse), When We Were Thirty (Forest Forge) and Marry Me a Little (Blackledge Theatre, Salisbury). She has also appeared in pantomimes across the UK, including Beauty and the Beast (Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch), Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty (New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich), Aladdin (City Varieties, Leeds) and Jack and the Beanstalk (Forest Forge).
Sarah was also a resident performer on Cunard's Queen Elizabeth, performing in a variety of productions, concerts and revue shows on board.
Sarah now teaches regularly in performing arts schools and colleges, and delivers workshops around the UK covering music theory, vocal technique and mindset coaching. She also runs a private voice studio from home and online.
