Main Stage Moments: Jessica Bowditch at Move It
Jessica Bowditch is a third-year BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and Dance student from our Essex campus, and performed on the main stage at this year’s Move It show, representing Performers College. We caught up with her when she came off stage to ask her about her experience.
Which dance did you just perform in?
Our dance was called Where Have You Been? and it was choreographed by Billy Sawyer and Devon Young. My role was the lead role, but I was just one of many performers in the piece – everyone had a role to play. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity; it’s so special. I’ve been here for five years now, as I did two years in the extended Diploma course, and I’m so proud of myself and all my friends for where we are today.

Have you performed at Move It before?
I performed at the 2025 show, and I feel like I’m so lucky to have been given the opportunity again this year. It’s really, really good when outside choreographers come in, like Billy Sawyer and Devon Young
.
They know their craft and have so many connections in the industry that can help us progress. I’m very grateful that I’ve experienced a show of this scale, including the tough rehearsals.
It’s mirrored what we can expect to actually happen in the industry, and I’m very grateful for that preparation.
What would you say to someone considering applying to Performers College?
I just say go for it because that’s what I did! Back in 2021, I took a chance, and it’s honestly the best thing that’s happened to me. I’m so happy I did, as it’s been the best kickstart to my training. First-year me would not believe that I just did that performance on the Move It stage.
To be honest, back then I wasn’t the best at commercial dance in general, but I’ve trained, improved and overcome that. Now I’ve been the lead in our mainstage piece. I’m just really proud of my younger self and how far she has come since then.
What does the future hold for you after you graduate this year?
Ultimately, I’m hoping to be a choreographer, a big choreographer, and I’d like to tour around the world supporting vocal artists. I’m up for any opportunity to perform! I’d also love to be in Moulin Rouge one day.
How would you describe your journey with Performers College in one sentence?
Performers in one sentence is an emotional rollercoaster, but a good one, and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
