Working with our network of West End performers, producers, directors and choreographers, you’ll develop a professional toolkit that prepares you for contemporary productions and innovative performance formats. Your training balances rigorous technical development with forward-thinking approaches that respond to how musical theatre continues to evolve and challenge conventions.
Beyond comprehensive training in acting, dance and singing, you’ll explore emerging performance techniques including physical theatre, immersive theatre, and on-camera work through collaboration with MetFilm School. This breadth of experience ensures you graduate as an adaptable, resilient performer capable of creating your own opportunities.
Throughout your journey, we emphasise entrepreneurship and individual development alongside technical proficiency. You’ll build a professional network, develop industry awareness, and find your authentic creative identity. You will graduate as a confident, adaptable artist ready to navigate the contemporary performing arts industry.
The course culminates in high-profile performance opportunities, including a revue and a fully produced musical that showcase your full range of skills to industry professionals, helping you make the crucial transition from training to professional practice.

Minimum Requirements
80 UCAS points (3 A-Levels or equivalent) plus 3 GCSEs at C/4 or above, including English Language.
RPP available for mature applicants (19+ home applicants, or 18+ overseas) without formal qualifications.
Applicants who have previously studied in Higher Education may be eligible to apply to join the course directly at Level 5 via RPL.
IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 to be achieved in each band.
All applicants will be required to attend an audition and demonstrate their ability in dance, drama and singing. We’re not expecting you to be proficient in all three – just a bit of star quality!
If you meet certain criteria, you may be eligible for a contextual offer with reduced entry requirements.
Progression
Graduates can progress directly to employment in theatre and related creative industries.

Year 1
All students take the following core modules in their first year of study. Full module information is subject to approval. Students can select four optional modules during their three year course; three in the second year, and one in their final year.
The first Creative Industries module will introduce you to the strategies and tools to set you on the right path toward pursuing a successful career. Whether focused on a particular career goal or considering several future possibilities, you will broaden your knowledge of the opportunities available to you as a future creative industry professional.
This module introduces the core technical and performance skills essential for acting in musical theatre. Emphasising a discipline-specific vocabulary, you will explore fundamental acting techniques tailored to musical theatre, with a focus on integrating spoken voice work, text interpretation, and emotional connection.
Through a combination of practical exercises and guided reflection, you will develop a strong foundation in performance techniques, working both collaboratively and individually. Classes will follow a structured progression, encouraging discipline, preparation, and continuous development. You will be required to prepare ahead of class. Teaching will follow a progressive training ethos through continued practice and development. You will be encouraged and guided to work with discipline, organisation and focus
This module provides a strong foundation in movement, dance technique, and physical conditioning essential for musical theatre performance. Through a practical, progressive training approach, you will develop their understanding of anatomy, build stamina, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. You will be introduced to a range of performance and technical skills required in a variety of dance genres. A range of classes and teaching styles will ensure that you can apply movement principles effectively in performance.
This module focuses on developing a strong, supported, and healthy voice for both singing and speaking in a variety of contexts. Building on existing knowledge and individual ability, you will explore vocal anatomy and physiology to build a reliable and versatile technique, ensuring safe vocal practice. Through a combination of solo and ensemble performances, you will apply your learning in a practical setting, covering key areas such as developing vocal repertoire, understanding music theory, and exploring different musical styles.
In this module, you will further develop your investigative skills, exploring relevant underlying concepts and principles and interpreting these within the context of your area of study. You will explore the nature of creativity, the wider context of the industry and practice reflective techniques.
You will also evaluate sources and consider issues such as potential biases and cultural diversity. This evaluation will contribute to developing an enhanced awareness of your creative identity and greater insight into the topics that inspire and motivate you. In addition, you will improve your understanding of how your area of interest intersects with the wider creative industry.
Using academic enquiry, you will develop a reflective journal to evaluate your strengths and areas for self-development in relation to your studies, careers and personal aspirations. This investigative work will help establish a connection between the skills you have identified concerning specific careers and areas of the industry, enhancing your understanding of what is required to be a successful professional practitioner.

Year 2
A range of option modules can be selected in Year 2 subject to availability and student demand. Full module information is also subject to approval.
Students pick three optional modules from: Applied Directing, Community Theatre, Digital Media Performance, Film Studies, Musical Theatre Performance, Practical Learning & Teaching in the Creative Arts (1), Working in the Creative Arts, and Writing for Stage and Screen.
Building on the work of semester one, this module continues to develop the core technical and performance skills essential for acting in musical theatre. Emphasising a discipline-specific vocabulary, you will explore fundamental acting techniques tailored to musical theatre, with a focus on integrating spoken voice work, text interpretation, and emotional connection. Through a combination of practical exercises and guided reflection, you will develop a strong foundation in performance techniques, working both collaboratively and individually.

In the Defining Your Practice in Context module, you evaluated the lineage and traditions of your creative practice, investigating how it connects to artistic and industry practices. This module will require you to utilise your acquired knowledge to plan and create, collaboratively, a piece of work that links to your practice. Collaborating with others can help you develop new and innovative ideas and can also help you develop confidence as a creative practitioner whilst practising your communication, project management, reflection and feedback skills.

Repertoire will be expanded, and you will be expected to challenge yourself through the implementation of self-expression. In the previous semester, you worked on basic technique; in semester two, you will add a layer to your learning by bringing yourself to the work.
How do you use your voice to interpret music, story, and expression? You will continue to work on the necessary technical vocal aspects, but you will now consider these further elements as you do so. This is the point in your training where you begin to explore a range of vocal choices available to you.

Year 3
A range of optional modules can be selected in Year 3 subject to availability and student demand. Full module information is also subject to approval.
Students pick one optional modules from: Devised Theatre Performance, Film Studies, Practical Learning & Teaching in the Creative Arts (2), and Short Film Production.
In this module, you will undertake a significant project of your own choosing. It’s your chance to explore your passion within the industry and creative arts: experiment, take risks, strengthen your skills and create a product/cohesive portfolio of work that you are proud to showcase at the end of your degree. This module will support you in consolidating the broad learning and development from the course so far, building a bridge into the industry, the workplace and future opportunities. You will be supported to self-direct your own learning through a series of lectures, seminars and 1:1 tutorials with expert supervisors.
This module is the final step in your journey and will support you as you look to enter your chosen field as a creative professional. Drawing on evidence from throughout your time here. You will critically self-evaluate your personal learning journey and industry engagements to date. You will explore concepts and theories of personal and professional development to support, challenge and test your assumptions, to determine your readiness for work in the creative industries. You will have the opportunity to discuss this with your peers and learn from your collective experiences in both small degree path groups and large mixed discipline sessions.
With this position in mind, you will then be challenged to create and consolidate creative assets to give you the edge over the competition in your chosen field. Specialist workshops will be offered throughout the module, informed and delivered by our wide-reaching connections and specialist lecturers in the creative industries. This culminates in the creation of a portfolio that tells the story of your personal and professional journey so far, communicating your unique professional identity and future career plans in the creative industries.
This module is designed to build on your previous experience of performance and to apply your learning within the context of a production. The nature of the piece you work on will be appropriate to the route you are studying. You will rehearse intensively towards a production, which will be director-led. Rehearsal etiquette, preparation and discipline will be core elements of your process during this module and will contribute significantly to the assessment. You will be expected to utilise your skill sets with proficiency and assurance as well as engage openly and with creativity to the demands of the piece.
Following on from Performance 1 in the previous semester, this module is designed to build on your experience. Performance 2 provides you with the opportunity to apply what you have learnt in terms of approach and technique within the context of a second production. It allows you to explore any strategies, approaches or methodologies that have arisen from your reflections on the previous performance. It also gives you the chance to work with a different director, and potentially a different process in the rehearsal room. This will be invaluable as a performer, as you will need to be able to adjust and respond to a variety of directorial styles. The nature of the piece you work on will be appropriate to the route you are studying. You will rehearse intensively towards a production, which will be director-led. Rehearsal etiquette, preparation and discipline will be core elements of your process during this module and will contribute significantly to the assessment. You will be expected to utilise your skill sets with proficiency and assurance, as well as engage openly and with creativity to the demands of the piece.
